Running in Place (back home)

I don't think I've actually written about running in Michigan just yet.  Let's remedy that.  My brother Andy got married on June 29 and asked me to be one of the groomsmen.  Since the wedding was shortly before the long holiday weekend, Mila and I decided to stay and relax for a bit. The wedding weekend itself was fantastic. We saw family, played golf horribly, played wiffleball better (especially David), got in a bit of trouble, sweated in the sun during the service, and danced like fools at the reception.  Two of my all-time favorite days have been my brothers' weddings.  Andy and Amy's first dance beautiful setting for the wedding (photo credit: Amy Stieve, check out her work on  her Instagram.) Mila and Scott some CWB action I only ran a couple of times during our time in Michigan, but we went on quite a few hikes.  We started with a tour of the area behind the house I grew up in.  There's a path that leads to the...

Bunny Run 2019

This weekend was the Habitat for San Angelo Humanity Bunny Run.  The race normally takes place around Easter (that's how it got its name), but was postponed twice due to bad weather.  So, instead of a starting temp in the 50s, we were in the upper 70s.  The double reschedule also seemingly affected the attendance, with maybe 25-40 runners at the start.  The course is a San Angelo favorite, going around Santa Fe park and following the riverwalk Kid's Kingdom  (photo credit: Discover San Angelo) up to Central High school.  The 10k course followed the riverwalk under the 306/67 loop before heading back to the start/finish line at Kid's Kingdom (a local playground). Since I've been mostly out of commission for the past six weeks,  I really just wanted to see what I could do for a 5k.  The training program I semi-randomly picked  is saying I should be under 24 minutes if I'm trying to shoot for sub 22.  Right now, my goal is to see if ...

Running in (Various) Places

It's been a while, hasn't it?  In truth, I had a post partially written in early April.  Then my computer gave out on me midway through updating the Road Lizards page and the past 6 weeks have been pretty crazy.  I don't know where I was going with that last post really.  So, we'll just leave it in drafts. Like I said it's been a hectic 6 weeks for me.  At the end of April, I met up with Mila to spend some time with family in Panama.  It was roughly 8732% humidity and I only ended up running once.  Don't y'all worry though, I took runpics for the blog. I went on a 3 mile easy run, catching up to my father in law on his morning walk to "his office."  (He gets together with a group of retired guys at a shopping center most days.)  He let me know that I could follow the main road all the way to the airport if I wanted, changing my planned route. The new train line that was recently finished.   The humidity was incredibly high, s...
