Intro and travel days

Maybe you've seen comedic depictions of that guy that has friends over so he can force them to sit through a slide show of every single picture of his family vacation while overexplaining each individual picture. That's that this next series of posts will be. Really, these are more for me and Mila to help remember the fine details of the trip. How many trips have you taken that just a decade later you aren't sure which year you even went? There will only be a little bit of running in this supposed running blog (that I haven't added to in a couple years) It was a bit chilly I'll start with the running.  March 19th and 25th I ran the Tobacco Road 1/2 and Fort Bragg 1/2, respectively. The point was more just to have something to train for and have fun doing. During the first race, I decided to try and shoot for sub 4 between the 2. I did it, just barely.  With a watch distance of 26.84 miles, I finished in a time of 3:59:30.  I'll take it. OK, that part's over....

Running in Place: Back Home Again

It was apropos that, while sitting on my grandma's decades-old couch, I read Stephen King's intro to the Dark Tower.  In it, he talks about how he started writing the series at 19 years old and how that age shaped the outlook of the series.  King continues with how many of us get stuck at that age mentally.  Before you argue too much about that, think of your go-to music and movies.  Who are your favorite athletes?  Chances are they all come from around that age.  I know I still blast Flogging Molly and AFI.  I think I'll circle back to this in a bit. Due to COVID and moving, I was not able to meet my brothers' kids (and I still haven't met Thea).  Since I had a hole in my training schedule, we decided to drive up north and do a tour, spending 2-3 nights in various locations.    The whole point of the trip was to see family.  Different from prior trips, we weren't going to be doing much site-seeing or exploring.  Unf...

Running in (Various) Places

It's been a while, hasn't it?  In truth, I had a post partially written in early April.  Then my computer gave out on me midway through updating the Road Lizards page and the past 6 weeks have been pretty crazy.  I don't know where I was going with that last post really.  So, we'll just leave it in drafts. Like I said it's been a hectic 6 weeks for me.  At the end of April, I met up with Mila to spend some time with family in Panama.  It was roughly 8732% humidity and I only ended up running once.  Don't y'all worry though, I took runpics for the blog. I went on a 3 mile easy run, catching up to my father in law on his morning walk to "his office."  (He gets together with a group of retired guys at a shopping center most days.)  He let me know that I could follow the main road all the way to the airport if I wanted, changing my planned route. The new train line that was recently finished.   The humidity was incredibly high, s...
